A First-Time Guide to Serifos, Greece

A First-Time Guide to Serifos, Greece

Get acquainted with Serifos, one of the lesser-known jewels of the Cyclades. Even with rough landscapes and picturesque villages, Serifos has some fabulous beaches that guarantee a more relaxed atmosphere away from the maddening crowds.

When to Visit Serifos

The best time is summer, with warm and apt weather for beach activities and great connections by ferry to other islands. Summer festivals, especially in August, give the island a lot of life. April offers a very special Greek Orthodox Easter. For cooler temperatures and good accommodation deals, make sure to come during both late spring and early autumn. Most of the island closes down from October until May, meaning fewer ferry services.

How Long to Stay

The breeze in Serifos definitively does the relaxed thing; spend at least three to four days here to enjoy its languid air, scan beaches, or discover inland areas.

Getting to and Around Serifos

Serifos is reachable by ferry from Athens' Piraeus. Book tickets in advance, especially for peak season. The main road follows a loop around the island, and buses connect major spots. Rental options include bikes, cars, or scooters.
