Essential Guide to Havana: Discovering Cuba's Cultural Capital

What you need to know before visiting Havana:

Getting to Havana:

One way travel from the airport to Old Havana on a taxi cost us $30 (30 CUC) which was arranged the Airbnb. You may ask anyone who wants to share or shares the taxi you take.

WIFI:

WIFI in Havana is hard to come by. You can find it at hotels and some parks, and you do need to buy a Nauta card from ETECSA stores (around $1 for one hour) in native currency, which can be used. Avoid buying cards from vendors at exaggerated prices.

Accommodation:

We stayed in Airbnb's, which was our main support for local Cubans despite government regulations they work by on earnings. There were the main attractions and a very dynamic atmosphere in Old Havana that made it our main destination.

Safety:

We felt secure as a pair in Havana, although the watch is to be kept. Steer clear of unsought advice or suggestions from acquaintances.

Tips:

You can easily buy water from Harris Brothers for a low price.

Be wary of scams that might target you like those involving cigars, salsa lessons, or asking for baby formula.

For walking, pack comfortable shoes and plan ahead with offline maps.
